exploring the intersection between art, design, and technology.
archive
Having successfully pitched the idea to the management team for The Beatles, I collaborated with an international team of producers, marketeers, archivists, and animators to direct a series of animations for each song on the 2022 re-release of Revolver.
Working with archivists from Abbey Road and Apple Corps, each visual was inspired by the ideas and stories that influenced the writing and recording the album. In the case of Eleanor Rigby, this meant drawing on the song’s influence from the string section of Psycho, as well as Saul Bass’s iconic title sequence, to bring the melody to life.

narrative
Capturing the essence of each song required an overarching narrative to tie each animation together. Finding ways to capture the creative process of The Beatles at play during a recording session at Abbey Road became the central through-line we needed to give structure to the research and direction the production process.

collage
Alongside a team of animators from WILD, we repurposed never before seen archive material from Universal, Abbey Road, and Apple Corps. Utilising hand drawn illustrations and public domain material allowed us to expand on the mixed media approach that defined the design of the original release.
